poetic futurism formation COURSES

For a Loving Future offers a variety of courses to support community practitioners.

Some forms of learning give us more information. Others change the place from which we understand, relate, create, and act.

Balancán℠ and Manantial℠ are two formation courses grounded in Poetic Futurism, combining self-directed study with live online sessions. Each course brings participants into a sustained process of reflection, practice, and application using writings from the Poetic Futurism corpus, guided inquiry, and a conversational learning process.

Together, the courses ask two connected questions:

What must we release in order to return to ourselves?

What becomes possible when we begin creating again from source?

Balancán℠ begins with distortion, misrecognition, fragmentation, and the recovery of narrative authority.

Manantial℠ begins with source, memory, replenishment, and the movement from restored inner life toward generative collective practice.

Participants may enter either course independently. Taken together, they create a deeper formation arc:

Balancán clears.
Rosalila reveals what remained.
Manantial replenishes.

COURSE

Balancán℠

Clearing Distortion and Reconstituting the Self

There are times when the difficulty we are experiencing arises partly from the field around us.

Institutions, families, movements, workplaces, communities, political cultures, and other relational environments create narratives about what is valuable, recognizable, legitimate, responsible, professional, successful, or true. When those fields become distorted, a person may spend extraordinary energy attempting to become legible inside categories that continually misrecognize what they carry.

The work then becomes larger than the work itself.

We explain. Translate. Adapt. Prove. Soften. Repair. Remain available. Carry the original responsibility while also carrying the field’s difficulty perceiving it.

Over time, the Self can become organized around this process.

Balancán is the clearing where another movement begins.

In Poetic Futurism, Balancán names the interior place where the Self releases the weight of the field’s distortion and begins returning to a deeper source. It is a place of discernment: the ability to separate assessment from identity, imposed meaning from lived reality, responsibility from projected responsibility, and recognition from worth.

The course follows the movement from misrecognition through fragmentation toward narrative authority, reconstitution, and the formation of the coherent human.

The central question

What must be released so the Self can return to its deeper source and recover the authority to know what happened?

The course moves through

Distorted Fields and Misrecognition
Learning to recognize the narrative fields that organize perception and understanding.

Legibility Labor and Fragmentation
Examining what happens when being accurately understood becomes additional labor.

Narrative Authority
Recovering the capacity to know, name, and metabolize experience while remaining oriented to reality and responsibility.

Releasing the Field’s Distortion
Separating what genuinely belongs to us from what belongs to the field.

Rosalila and What Remained Intact
Finding the protected place within the Self that survived distortion, weathering, and rupture.

Reconstitution and the Coherent Human
Gathering memory, discernment, grief, imagination, responsibility, body, and love back into relationship.

Balancán is for people asking questions such as:

  • What happens when I have spent too much of myself trying to be understood?

  • How can I distinguish useful feedback from a distorted field’s assessment?

  • What belongs to me to carry?

  • What am I ready to return?

  • What survived the rupture?

  • How do I participate again without reorganizing myself around the conditions that fragmented me?

The movement

Release distortion.
Recover narrative authority.
Return to source.

SESSIONS

We will be meeting Sept 2 - 23, 2026. All sessions will be 90 minutes at 3 PM PST / 4 PM MST / 5 PM CST / 6 PM EST. International: 4 PM Mexico, Guatemala.

COURSE

MANANTIAL℠

Source, Replenishment, and Generative Practice

Clearing creates space.

Then something has to live there.

In Spanish, a manantial is a place where water rises from the earth: a spring, a headwater, a source.

Within Poetic Futurism, Manantial names the place of nurture from which the Self can be replenished after distortion has depleted it.

Where separation has occurred, Manantial reconnects.

Where misrecognition has taken hold, Manantial remembers.

Where extraction has consumed, Manantial replenishes.

The idea also extends beyond the individual.

For A Loving Future has used manantial to describe a different approach to knowledge creation: one in which ideas rise from grassroots practice, remain connected to the communities that generate them, circulate through relationship, and return to strengthen collective life.

Manantial therefore asks participants to follow a movement from inner source toward generative participation.

The question becomes larger than restoration.

What can flow from us once our lives are again connected to source?

The central question

How do we return to source and create from it in ways that replenish life, relationship, and future?

The course moves through

The Source and the Headwater
Tracing what gives life to our knowledge, creativity, discernment, and sense of meaning.

Reconnection and Memory
Recovering relationships that fragmentation, domination, displacement, or time have separated.

Replenishment After Distortion
Learning to recognize what has been depleted and what genuinely restores generative capacity.

Nurture, Relationship, and Life
Creating conditions in which people, practices, relationships, and communities can continue becoming.

Grassroots Knowledge as Manantial
Understanding communities as producers of theory, practice, innovation, and knowledge rooted in lived conditions.

Generative Practice and Continuity
Examining what our work leaves behind and whether it increases the capacity for future action.

Offering What Flows Forward
Creating something that emerges from source and enters collective life as an offering.

Manantial is for people asking questions such as:

  • What genuinely replenishes me?

  • Where does my knowledge come from?

  • What have I inherited that deserves to continue?

  • What happens when creation begins in relationship rather than performance?

  • How do we generate knowledge without extracting it from communities?

  • What can I create that strengthens the capacity of others?

  • What can continue after my direct participation ends?

The movement

Return to source.
Replenish life.
Create what can continue.

SESSIONS

We will be meeting Sept 30 - Oct 21, 2026. All sessions will be 90 minutes at 3 PM PST / 4 PM MST / 5 PM CST / 6 PM EST. International: 4 PM Mexico, Guatemala.

Two Courses, One Larger Formation

Balancán℠ and Manantial℠ begin in different places.

Balancán works with what happens when the Self has been required to organize around distortion.

Manantial works with what becomes possible after a deeper source has again become available.

Between them sits Rosalila: the image of the inner temple that remained protected beneath the layers.

This creates a larger Poetic Futurism formation:

The field distorts.
The Self fragments.
Balancán clears.
Rosalila reveals what remained.
The Self returns to source.
Manantial replenishes.
What has been replenished becomes capable of creating again.
Creation moves into relationship.
Relationship creates future.

The aim is larger than personal development.

Poetic Futurism understands coherence as fractal. What becomes more coherent within a human being can travel into families, communities, organizations, movements, institutions, governance, and collective life.

These courses begin with the human because the futures we create eventually carry the qualities of the people and relationships capable of creating them.

How the Courses Work

Each course combines self-directed study with a sequence of live online sessions and is designed for sustained engagement rather than rapid completion.

Participants move through a sequence of readings, questions, practices, and applied reflection.

The courses reward depth over speed.

Participants are encouraged to pause between modules, undertake the practices in their actual lives, return with observations, and allow experience to test the ideas.

The goal is formation through study, reflection, practice, and consequence.

Grounded in Poetic Futurism

Balancán℠ and Manantial℠ emerge from the larger body of Poetic Futurism developed by Sayra Pinto and shared on For the Record.

Poetic Futurism asks what capacities human beings, communities, and institutions must develop in order to create coherence under conditions shaped by rupture.

Its concerns include narrative, memory, relationship, responsibility, consequence, difference, continuity, governance, reconstitution, and the creation of futures capable of being carried across generations.

Balancán and Manantial bring those questions into the intimate territory of human formation.

Begin Where You Are

You may already know which course is calling you.

If you are carrying the weight of prolonged misrecognition, fragmentation, or the labor of making yourself legible inside a distorted field, begin with Balancán℠.

If you are seeking reconnection, replenishment, creative source, or a way to move from restored capacity into generative collective practice, begin with Manantial℠.

If both movements belong to your present moment, begin with Balancán and allow Manantial to follow.
